Dear Passengers Multiplayer, Player Count, and Solo Mode

What Steam confirms about online co-op and single-player, plus the current limits around lobby size, matchmaking, local co-op, crossplay, and voice chat.

Reporting rule: confirmed facts are tied to named sources. Interpretation is labeled, and missing details stay unknown until FLEXUS or Steam publishes them.

Short answer: Dear Passengers supports single-player and online co-op. FLEXUS has not published the maximum lobby size, matchmaking model, local or split-screen co-op, crossplay, dedicated servers, or join-in-progress behavior.

How the announced co-op roles fit together

The official description divides work between the cockpit and cabin. One person can pilot while other crew members serve passengers, secure cargo, and contain emergencies. FLEXUS later clarified that the aircraft is fully controllable, which makes coordination between the two spaces part of the gameplay rather than a background animation.

Why the trailer is not a player-count answer

Footage can show several characters at once without revealing the lobby cap. Characters may belong to different scenes, be non-player entities, or represent a development setup rather than the final network limit. Curator notes, community tags, and guesses based on similar games are not publisher specifications.

Single-player is confirmed, its solution is not

Steam explicitly lists single-player, but the studio has not explained how one person handles simultaneous cockpit and cabin jobs. Role switching, automation, assistants, reduced workload, and pause-based commands are all possible designs; none should be stated as the answer before FLEXUS shows the system.

Network and communication questions still open

  • Public matchmaking versus invite-only or private lobbies
  • Built-in voice chat, proximity rules, text chat, and moderation
  • Host migration, reconnects, late joining, and save ownership
  • Regional servers, latency expectations, and dedicated-server support
  • Whether a future demo includes co-op, solo play, or both

These fields remain in the open-question ledger. When FLEXUS publishes a lobby limit or demo mode, this page can change from a boundary guide into a practical setup guide without preserving an earlier guess.
